One of the foundations of our investment philosophy is the use of multiple portfolio managers, each specializing in a particular investment style as well as investment approach, both of which are critical to investment success.

For example, in addition to evaluating managers who focus on the fundamental evaluation of individual stocks, such as price/earnings or price/book ratios, also evaluated are managers who employ macro quantitative models which seek to capitalize on specific market factors and trends.  Potential managers are evaluated continuously, in all major asset classes and market sectors.  Often, multiple managers are employed within each line item of the portfolio, offering additional diversification of approach as well as enhancing portfolio risk management.

In order to optimize the selection process, Capital Investors has entered into a strategic alliance with SEI, Incorporated, a large, highly-regarded publicly-held firm based in Philadelphia. One of the most financially-sound companies in the investment industry, SEI offers a unique set of capabilities and proprietary technology for the efficient selection and rigorous monitoring of institutional money managers.

A 40-year old firm, SEI has over 2000 employees worldwide and manages almost $158 billion of investor assets (as of 12/31/09).  Their annual revenues exceed $1.0 billion (FYE 2009) and they employ a core group of more than 100 talented investment professionals, many of whom hold the highly-regarded CFA designation.  A leading provider of asset management and investment technology solutions, SEI's clients include financial advisors such as Capital Investors, as well as corporations, banks and other financial institutions which focus on  wealth management for their own clients.
